Why I Started This

A Gap Nobody Was Naming

I didn't set out to build a legacy planning company. I set out to run a notary business.

I established my own notary practice in 2019, and most of my work was loan signings and general notary services like powers of attorney, wills and trusts.

I noticed something: people were unsure about where things should be kept. A signed POA. A trust document or will. No on talked about the details that mattered later. They now were relieved that they had their paperwork completed. But no one was thinking about who needed to know about it, how they would access it when needed (especially if they didn't live nearby). Where the document should live and who should know about it, was a different question.

I didn't have a name for that gap yet, until Jon Braddock, the owner of My Life and Wishes®, introduced me to the Legacy Vault™.

Where the Legacy Vault™ Came In

The Problem, Finally Named

That's when it clicked. Jon showed me exactly what I'd been noticing in bits and pieces: a completed legal document and a family who knew what to do with it and when - if they could even access it when needed - are not the same thing. It was an "A-ha moment" for me! I had found a product built specifically to bridge this gap. That was the moment I decided to become an Official Partner and Certified Legacy Vault™ Advisor because I was shown the problem, and I believed in the answer immediately and completely. And I still do.

I also saw something else. I saw an opportunity for notaries like me.

Notaries are already in the room for so many of these moments: closings, estate signings, healthcare directives, powers of attorney. We're already trusted messengers. Offering the Legacy Vault™ gave me a way to serve my own clients more completely, and it opened the door to build something bigger. A way for notaries anywhere to expand what they offer, deepen the trust they've already earned, and add a meaningful new revenue stream to their business. No liability. No new licensing or access fee. Just a resource worth sharing.

That's the mission behind Your Document Concierge: help families avoid the chaos, frustration, and sometimes the contention that shows up when nobody can find what they need. And help the notaries and professionals who serve those families every day do even more for them.

What Drives Me

A Life Habit, Not a Senior Product

I'm an entrepreneur at heart, and once I saw what the Legacy Vault™ could do, I couldn't unsee it. I believe every individual, couple, and family should have one, not just retirees, and not just people who've already started thinking about end-of-life planning.

Here's the shift I'm trying to make: most people assume this kind of thing is for "later," for when you're older, when you're sicker, when you finally get around to it. I think that's backwards. The earlier someone starts, the sooner it becomes a habit instead of a project. A 28-year-old who builds the habit of keeping their information organized carries that habit for the next 50 years. That's not just easier. It's a completely different approach to being prepared.

So part of my mission with Your Document Concierge is changing that perspective entirely. This isn't "just a senior product". It's a life habit, and the best time to start it is now, whatever stage of life "now" looks like for you.

And I don't want to be the only one carrying that message. Building a network of Vault Concierges and Referral Partners across the country means it multiplies, through every notary and professional who decides their clients, of any age and at any time, need to have a roadmap ready for their family, and not leave them with a scavenger hunt instead.
